As I was riding back from Charlestown on the MGH shuttle today, I was inspired by the following song, and decided to write a (very loose and somewhat useless) translation of the first verse.
*卡膜脈: transliteration of Japanese 鴎 (かもめ) "seagull"
今日是快樂的出帆期 無限的海洋也 歡喜出帆的日子 綠色的地平線 青色的海水 卡膜脈*, 卡膜脈, 卡膜脈嘛飛來 一路順風唸歌詩 水螺聲響亮送阮 快樂的出帆啦 | Today's the day when we merrily set sail Oh limitless sea, what a happy day for our voyage To the emerald horizon, on the sapphire waters Even the seagulls sail down to greet us Singing and chanting "bon voyage" And the sound of the conch sends us off on our happy journey. |
