I went down with [livejournal.com profile] lokiect to her parents' apartment down in New York City for Thanksgiving, along with [livejournal.com profile] gnibbles and Shaina. The Fung Wah Bus took a good 6 hours on the busiest traffic night of the year, but we had [livejournal.com profile] schnerf and [livejournal.com profile] pacri to keep us company. Fortunately the way back on Saturday night took only 3.5 hours, which reaffirmed my faith in the cheap buses.

Some highlights of the trip:
  • Bummed around Thursday eating Thanksgiving dinner and played Mario Kart 64 with [livejournal.com profile] echidnapi (or was that Wednesday night?), after which we walked around for a short while before returning for dessert.
  • Stood in line at the tkts booth in Duffy Square for a good hour and a half Friday afternoon. Of course we'd hadn't really heard of any of the shows when we got to the front, so after calling Mari and some minor spazzing, we got tickets to The Rivals at the Lincoln Center.
  • Met up with Mari, Ray, and Mike at Soba-ya (蕎麦屋) in East Village for tasty noodle and rice bowl dinners, after which Mari came with us to see The Rivals.
  • Sent the undergrads home on their way Saturday morning. Actually we were still sleeping, so they sent themselves home.
  • Visited the Met with Mari, Ray, Mike, Eva, [livejournal.com profile] lokiect, and [livejournal.com profile] backfromthedead. There were mediæval weapons and Ægyptian temples and crystals with nautlius and tons of other fun artifacts, not to mention Picasso and Brancusi and Matisse.

I must say, at the end of the trip, I was getting a little sick of the hubbub in the city and just wanted to get back to Boston and nap.
