Rice porridge

ilaiAdvantages: tasty and warms you up.
Disadvantages: takes time, and now Ian's rice cooker is covered in rice goo.
I wonder if washing the rice more helps. I also noticed my rice cooker's lid doesn't have a hole to vent the steam....

Date: 2004-02-29 10:06 am (UTC)It's easiest on an electric stove because the burner retains heat. Put 2 parts water and one part white rice in a pan. Bring to a boil. Shut the burner off, cover the pan, and leave the pan on the burner for 15 min before serving. (This takes about thirty minutes for brown rice, and I don't get perfect results. Try turning the heat down as far as you can, instead of off.)
