After the move

Phew, I'm rising back to the surface for air! I just moved this last weekend along with lokiect, jadia, and purplerecluse to my new apartment past Teele. The movers were pretty good, but we had so much stuff it took them two trips and nine hours. My long weekend was thus spent mostly unpacking and cleaning (jadia and I attacked the kitchen floor for a looong time), and now my room is mostly set up.

So far this week I've been experimenting with different ways to get to Alewife station from my apartment, and made a few new discoveries:

• I refuse to cross Mass Ave where there's no crosswalk
• The area around Alewife where the bike path goes off into Arlington is really dusty from the construction
• Walking along the side of Alewife Brook Parkway without a sidewalk is no fun in slacks
• There are thorns in some of the native flora near Alewife

And I can still walk to Davis Square in less time than it takes me to walk to Alewife, but I'd much rather have the extra sleep in the morning. Though it is nice for the nights when I return home from karate practice.

When we moved into our current place, frolain and I started working on the downstairs kitchen floor. It was only after some time that we realized it was supposed to be pink and white linoleum instead of black and white. It remains one of the scariest floors I know.

... Wow. That is damn frightening. Our floor was nowhere near that--it went from a dark khaki to a light tan. We must have used half a large jug of 409 though.

Ah yeah, I've discovered my newest favoritest route, and it goes right by the front of your house :-) Though I was rushing home so I didn't get a chance to drop by and say hi, so I should make up for that tonight.
