Rumor has it there's a Messiah concert this coming Sunday at 3pm in Kresge Theatre. Anyone interested?

Since Sunday I've been settling into my room. One of my roommates A got married on Saturday and has moved in with her husband R, so I'm moving into A's room and our new roommate E into mine. With the tremendous help of [livejournal.com profile] jadia, [livejournal.com profile] lokiect, [livejournal.com profile] narya, and one of A's bridesmaids C, I moved all my stuff Sunday and got most of the furniture settled. Last night [livejournal.com profile] lokiect and I moved one of A's bookshelves down to our living room, and I reawakened my rusty CAT5-crimping-fu to wire up my new room. Already the apartment feels different without A, and I have this feeling I'll be missing her greatly.

A's wedding

(And working in reverse chronological order...) A's wedding was a blast! [livejournal.com profile] lokiect and I stumbled in 15 minutes before it was set to begin and were amused for its entirety. The officiating priest embarassed A and R with their own hilarious descriptions of how they met and decided to marry one another, and called on us to vote on whether we thought they should actually get hitched. At the reception, R's best man K embarassed him with a story about how they got lost trying to visit every Dunkin' Donuts in the state for free donuts, and R showed us what he was really made of during the garter toss. We all danced and sang and had a jolly good time till midnight.

Post-post-wedding party

But the Best Man K wasn't content with just having a wedding party, pre-party, pre-pre-party, and a post-party. He came by to drop off R's apartment key at my place Sunday evening, and exhorted my apartment to join him for a drink at the Galleria. So K drove C (A's bridesmaid), [livejournal.com profile] lokiect, and me off to the Galleria to return his tux and find a bar. We made a detour down into Boston when K got distracted by a phone call, and ended up coming back up to Cambridge for a late dinner at Hana Sushi.

At the restaurant, K interrogated C on all things faux-Japanese and made us all drink saké bombs. For the uninitiated (which was all of us), this involved pouring warm saké into a small cup, dropping it into a glass of beer, chanting "saké bomb" thrice, and then chugging the mixture. This and the rest of the saké failed to get [livejournal.com profile] lokiect drunk (which was the real point of going out to dinner), so we met up with C's guitarist high-school friend and returned to my apartment for some karaoke and liquor, courtesy of R's stash.

The materials scientists and engineers invade

And going back to Friday--K and S came into town for a conference! So happy! We went out to dinner at the Royal East and went to [livejournal.com profile] narya's place to make and eat apple pie. D brought her apple-peeling-slicing-coring toy, which provided hours of amusement. Saturday afternoon we met up at the Harvard Coop and had some awesome hot cocoa from Burdick's (they even have soy!).
