It's a blustery day; first post in a couple of months

I wonder if I'm actually coming down with something mild, or if the lower temperature in my office has caused me to experience sniffling and certain other cold-like symptoms (which shouldn't actually be a factor, but it seems to have been in the past).

It's a deceptively beautiful day looking out the window--the sun is casting a warm glow over the asphalt parking lot. But it can't fool me! The wind chill is 40 °F outside right now.

Random recollection for the day: one subtle accent problem I had to get over was nasalizing vowels in anticipation of /n/, /m/, and /ng/s in English. It doesn't seem like that big a deal, but it does take you one step closer to sounding like a native speaker.

I'm a bit put off by Bush talking about the "political capital" that he's earned and about to spend. I can't quite put into words what it is about his wording that bothers me though. Words, phooey.
