Lesson learned for Thanksgiving

My brother and I went to SCD for Thanksgiving dinner tonight and brought along some zucchini bread we had made. Upon tasting the bread, S remarked that the bread tasted somewhat different, somewhat... minty. I revealed how we had made the bread, and it was explained to me that peppermint extract is not really actually substitutable for vanilla extract. Oops. :-) But fortunately the mint worked just fine with the zucchini bread.

So now I should put vanilla extract on our shopping list. Next experiment: cocoa powder and garlic banana bread!

I want to try almond extract in place of vanilla extract the next time I make rice cake.

Is the garlic part of the next experiment, or thorough testing has already proven it to be true? The idea intrigues me...
