Of all the topics you could've chosen to geek on... I read somewhere that Taiwanese has 7 tones. I've tried picking them out in my own speech, but it's a lot harder than it sounds, partly because tones change in an environment a lot more than they do in Mandarin. You could always buy that Hokkien textbook in Schoenhof's and check it out.
